Types of Angle Steel
Both legs have identical length, forming a symmetric L-profile. This balanced geometry distributes stress evenly along both axes, making it ideal for uniform frameworks, square frames, racks, and general structural applications where loads come from multiple directions.
Legs have different lengths, creating directional strength characteristics. The longer leg increases the moment of inertia about one axis, improving stiffness and load resistance in that specific direction. Commonly used in trusses, reinforcements, and structures requiring optimized load distribution.
Surface Finishes
- Natural / Black Finish: As-rolled with mill scale
- Shot Blasted / Pickled: Clean surface for painting or further treatment
- Primed / Painted: Shop-applied primer coating
- Hot-Dip Galvanized: Zinc coating per ASTM A123 for corrosion protection
- Oiled: Temporary rust protection during transit
Applications
Used extensively in structural frameworks, roof trusses, columns, beams, and bracing systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings.
Essential components in bridges, transmission towers, telecommunication towers, and highway guardrails where structural integrity is critical.
Applied in factory buildings, equipment supports, crane runways, conveyor systems, and storage racks.
Used for machine frames, workbenches, brackets, shelving supports, and custom fabrications across various industries.
Employed in trailer manufacturing, vehicle frames, shipbuilding, and railway structures.
Supporting frames for solar panel installations and wind tower foundations.
Stainless steel or galvanized angles provide corrosion resistance for docks, piers, and offshore platforms.
Greenhouse structures, livestock equipment, and farm building frameworks.
