Large Diameter SSAW Steel Pipe - China Suppliers & Factory for High-Quality Spiral Welded Pipes
Product Overview
SSAW (Spiral Submerged Arc Welded) steel pipe is manufactured by continuously forming hot-rolled steel coils into a spiral shape and welding the seam using double-sided submerged arc welding technology. The spiral forming process allows large-diameter pipes to be produced from narrower steel strips by adjusting the forming angle—a key advantage over straight seam welding methods.
SSAW pipes are available in a wide range of sizes, typically from 219mm to over 3000mm in outer diameter, and are manufactured to international standards such as API 5L and ASTM A252. They are commonly used for oil and gas transmission, water pipelines, structural applications, and foundation piling projects.
Material Grades
SSAW spiral welded pipes are available in multiple material grades to suit various application needs:
● Q235B (ASTM A36 / S235JR / St37.2 equivalent)
● Q345B (S355JR / St52.3 equivalent)
● 16Mn, 20#, 40#, 60#
Grade B, X42, X46, X52, X60, X65, X70, X80

Manufacturing Standards
SSAW pipes are produced in accordance with internationally recognized standards:
Other applicable standards may be specified depending on the intended application and regional requirements.
Surface Coating
SSAW spiral welded pipes can be supplied with various surface coatings to meet different environmental and application requirements:
Quality Control
SSAW spiral welded pipes undergo rigorous inspection procedures to ensure compliance with international standards:
Each pipe is verified for outer diameter, wall thickness, straightness, and length accuracy against specified requirements.
Samples are tested for tensile strength, yield strength, elongation percentage, and impact toughness to confirm material properties meet applicable standards.
Scans the weld seam to detect internal defects such as lack of fusion or cracks.
Every pipe is pressure-tested to verify integrity and ensure leak-free performance under operating conditions.
Packaging and Delivery
Typically within 30 days after order confirmation, depending on quantity and specifications.
Applications
SSAW spiral welded pipes are widely used across various industries due to their versatility, strength, and cost-effectiveness:
Extensively employed in long-distance pipelines for transporting crude oil, natural gas, and other petroleum products. Provides excellent pressure resistance and structural integrity.
Ideal for water transmission and distribution systems, including municipal water supply, raw water pipelines, and irrigation projects.
Used in bridge construction, building frameworks, foundation piling, port and dock facilities, and highway and railway structures.
Suitable for power plant cooling water systems, mining slurry transportation, and process piping in chemical and petrochemical facilities.
